I'm Anna, founder of The Nonprofit Startup and Marketing with a Mission -
 my signature course for nonprofit and social venture leaders.

For most of my career, I have balanced between the nonprofit and corporate worlds - as a Marketing + Communications leader at Fortune 100 companies, and as a nonprofit founder, volunteer, trainer, consultant, and board member - for several nonprofits, large and small.

While I worked for some of the world's top tech and science brands, my heart was always with nonprofit. 

I spent weekends and evenings cooking and packaging meals... producing fundraisers... writing donor appeals... serving on committees and sitting in board meetings.

I have coached and worked with nonprofit organizations focusing on social services, community building, food equity, women’s health, education, racial justice, LGBTQ+, the arts, children’s services, conservation, and more.  

In 2018, I was invited to design and launch a Nonprofit Marketing and Communications course for University of California-Irvine’s Nonprofit and Business Management program.

From that very first semester teaching nonprofit leaders, I immediately started getting 100% positive and 96% highly positive student ratings for each of my courses. (I mean... peep the testimonials!)

One day, I had an "aha" moment - a spark. 

It was time for me to grow. It was time to connect with even more leaders looking to make an impact.

I realized how powerful my Ultimate Marketing GAME plan - developed over 15+ years leading campaigns in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors - has been for helping nonprofit leaders get clarity on their goals, prioritize the work, and start seeing results.

And that's how The Nonprofit Startup was born.

I help nonprofit and social impact leaders to "think like a startup" - using no-cost or low-cost methods to define your strategy and supercharge your brand... BEFORE you pay that marketing agency.   

I live in Los Angeles with my husband, kids, and pup Ringo. My favorite things include (in no particular order): family, live music, traveling again (yay!), vintage anything, and a freshly picked tomato. 

Fun facts: As a violinist I have played in a Beatles cover band, a Rolling Stones cover band, and with a band opening for Ciara at the LA Pride Festival.
